Catch the Moment 2017: Week 3

January 15:  Over the past few months I've started to teach myself how to crochet. This is a C2C blanket that I'm working on for Tyler. It'll be a Christmas present for him next year (I hope).

January 16:  Our new winter boots are patiently waiting for the next big snowstorm by the slider in the kitchen.

January 17:  If you're looking for Tyler, it's a pretty good bet you'll find him on his iPod somewhere in the house. Tonight he was enjoying the comfort of our new couch.

January 18:  My Paw Patrol obsessed toddler.

January 19:  While the shadow drives me crazy in this one, I can't help by love that smile behind the paci. Mommy's boy for sure!

January 20:  Bailey and Hunter have been obsessed with crafts lately! They spent most of today coloring.

January 21:  A little artwork added to our refrigerator.

So far so good this year! I was a little late posting week 2 and may or may not have remembered to take a picture one day this week but I'm committed this year! If you're participating this year, please link up below! If not, considering joining, it's never too late and I promise you'll love it!

Catch the Moment 2017: Week 2

Thanks to our snowstorm last week, we've had some residule ice resulting in several days off from school. I was able to enjoy some extra time with the kids Monday and was able to bring them to school for a bit on Tuesday for a workday. It was a treat for Hunter especially since he's never able to go to school with the big kids!

January 8:  The kids took advantage of the leftover snow today and played outside for a bit. Hopefully we'll get at least one more snow storm this year.

January 9:  The snow has mostly melted and formed ice so school was cancelled today. After being stuck in the house for the last few days other than short trips outside to play in the snow, the 2 little ones enjoyed some art time. Hunter loves to paint!

January 10:  A little popcorn snack in Dad's chair before bedtime.

January 11:  I forgot to snap a picture before everyone went to bed, but these adorable trains were still set up on the tv stand from Hunter playing earlier today. He's a huge Thomas fan and loves these trains, but my feet aren't big fans of them!

January 12:  The pretty, pretty, princess.

January 13:  I bought this puzzle for Tyler for Christmas and we started working on it today. It took him about a half hour to decide it was too hard and ditch me. :(  But that's ok, because I bought another puzzle from the same series for my nephew and we are now in a race to see who can get it done first!

January 14:  Our new couch came this week, and it's super soft!

The year has gotten off to a great start. I love that I'm once again documenting our days. Consider joining us on our photograph adventure!

SnOMG 2017

Annnnd...we have snow!

Our local meteorologists were calling for 6 to 8 inches of snow for our area Friday night into Saturday which is huge for us. We usually only get a dusting of snow a couple of times a year. We wanted to be prepared for this giant snow fall so I started to go through the kids' snow gear. That's when I realized they had outgrown some of it and were missing other key pieces. It took Brandon and I several stores (shopping separetly) to track down everything we needed for our upcoming blizzard.

The kids were stoked! They knew we were getting snow and it was going to be a ton! Everyone went to bed excited and anxious for what the morning would bring. But alas, they were wrong. We got snow, but it was more to the tune of a half inch. Far from 6 to 8 inches. I was disappointed and Brandon was disappointed. But then Hunter woke up.

Hunter's too little to remember the snow from last year and really didn't know that we were supposed to be getting snow this weekend. He looked outside the window and immediately started screaming. Brandon and I were still upstairs and could hear him yelling at us as he ran back up to get us. His excitement over the very small amount of snow we had outside was contagious. He made me follow him down stairs into the kitchen excitedly squealing "It snowed! Santa's coming to visit me again!" After a brief conversation of why Santa won't be coming back for a while he went back to just being excited about the snow.

We held them off for a bit, and then out we went.

Bailey and Tyler had a great time sledding down some of the neighborhood hills. Hunter loved it last year, but this year didn't want anything to do with sledding. He had more fun pulling his sled around behind him.

After playing in the snow for a bit we came inside to enjoy some hot chocolate.

And then we were back out for round 2...

Even the dogs had fun!

We had just enough snow for me to make a batch of snow cream.

Everyone had a great time, even though it wasn't the amount of snow we were hoping for. Hopefully we'll get at least one more winter snow before spring comes!

Catch the Moment 2017: Week 1

After taking some time off from the Catch the Moment 365 project last year, I realized that the amount of every day pictures of my family really dwindled. I missed out on documenting just how much they grow in a year's time. I don't want to miss a moment this year, so I'm back on bored, armed and ready with a new camera, new laptop, and hopefully soon some new editing software!

This project is a lot of fun, and a great way of keeping track of your year. I have little to no skills when it comes to photography, but I absolutely love it! My kids get a little tired of having me put the camera in their face though. I hope you'll consider joining in on the fun!

January 1:  Bailey has spent most of her Christmas break creating these adorable drawings, cutting them out, and taping them all over the house. I can't get mad though, because she has some pretty amazing art skills. :)

January 2:  Hunter's favorite spot to watch movies is on the arm of the couch. He's going to be an upset toddler in a few days when our new couch arrives!

January 3:  They are calling for snow at the end of the week which is a pretty big deal here in North Carolina. The kids made these adorable snowflakes with Grandma a few weeks ago.

January 4:  Bath night! Daddy treated the kids to some bubble bath. They loved it, but I wasn't too thrilled with clean up duty. Bubbles. Everywhere.

January 5:  Tyler hates it when I take his picture. Here he is looking mighty handsome in his scout uniform.

January 6:  Our train obsessed toddler. This one has a lot of noise in it, but it was one of my favorites for the day.

January 7:  SnOMG! The weathermen were way off on their estimates for our total snowfall today, but we got enough to make the kids happy. They were predicting up to 8 inches and we ended up getting a ton of ice and about an inch of snow (at best). It was just enough to sled in. Bailey loved sledding this year, which was a huge improvement over last year when she spent her snow time outside pouting!

As you can see by my pictures, you don't need to be an expert photographer to participate in the challenge!
